Working that 9 to 5 job can be exhausting and with life happening all around us, it's easy to feel overwhelmed or fatigued. We're all doing our best to balance our work life, family life, social life, pets, kids - it's hard! With all of that going on, it can be difficult to turn our brain off at night sometimes. If you find yourself feeling exhausted or slightly zombie-esque first thing in the morning, BTW is here to help! Below are some simple tips on how to look more awake in the morning, whether or not you necessarily feel like it. Keep reading.
Shower right when you wake up
Showering first thing in the morning is a great way to wake up and energize your body so that you feel more prepared to take on the day. If you're really feeling sleepy, try making it a cold shower. The colder temperature will reduce inflammation and really get rid of that morning puffiness. The colder temperature will also give your body a little bit of a shock and really help you feel awake. Not into taking a cold shower? Splash some cold water on your face or try icing it. Founder, Alyssa Kipper, loves to ice her face every morning.
Drink warm water with lemon
Another great way to feel energized in the morning is with a cup of warm water and lemon. The warm water wakes up your insides while the lemon uses its detoxing properties. Hydrating is the perfect way to get your day started on the right foot. If you haven’t had enough water, your skin can look dull, tired and more aged than it actually is. Try starting off with a large glass of warm lemon water, and continue drinking water throughout the day.
Add eye drops
Waking up with puffy red eyes is a tell tale sign that you haven't got much sleep, so when you're feeling exhausted, reach for the eye drops. To avoid looking sleepy, put two drops into each eye, and you’ll notice a difference in a few minutes. The whiter your eyes are, they more awake you'll look.
Like we mentioned earlier, nothing says you’re tired more than dull skin. After showering, lock in that moisture by applying your favorite moisturizer. This is the best way to give your face that radiant glow you need to get your day started and will leave your skin looking refreshed.
When all else fails, grab your concealer
There's nothing wrong with adding a little extra concealer. Brighten up that under eye area to cover up those dark circles and top with a powder to set it in place for the rest of the day. When you're done with that, curl and coat those lashes. Giving your eyes a more open look will do wonders!
