Happy Friday babes! Today we are talking about the importance of self care. If you've read our previous posts, you'll know that we believe so strongly in taking care of yourself. There's no way you can work and function at your highest potential if you aren't feeling your absolute best. As busy as your schedule may be, it's important to know when to take time off—even if it's just an hour or a single day. Here at BTW, we've come up with a few of our favorite ways to self-indulge - keep reading.
Turn Off Your Phone
In this day and age with such a strong social media presence, we find ourselves spending a lot of our time online. Oftentimes, we may find ourselves comparing our lives to others and or thinking that the grass is greener, when in reality we're probably doing just fine. We get it, it can be overwhelming and mentally draining. When you start to feel this way, take a break from the phone for a bit and try to get outside or have genuine in-person interaction with someone you love.
Meditation has been proven to reduce stress and increase focus. Even a quick 5-10 minute session can give you that little extra 'me time.' If you find yourself feeling stressed at work, try to take a break and use a guided meditation app (our favorite is Headspace). There are also a ton of great YouTube videos available as well.
What would self-care be without a little pampering? We all like to look and feel our best, so when you're feeling a little overwhelmed or stressed, book yourself that massage you've been wanting, take time to get a mani/pedi or visit the hair salon. Whatever it is that helps you look and feel your absolute best - do that! You'll be so glad you did.
Get some sleep
Sometimes your mind, body and soul just need a break. The best way you can give your body the reboot it needs is to get some rest. You know when your phone or computer starts to act up and you turn it off and then back on to make it work better? Sometimes that's what you need to do with yourself! It sounds so silly, but its true! If you're having trouble sleeping, try applying essential oils to your wrists or temples or use an oil diffuser to release the scents, they’re so beneficial. Eucalyptus oil is great for de-stressing and lavender oil is perfect for right before bed.
